Weight Limits
The weight limits shown below is the range of maximum weight limit that is provided by the manufacturer. The weight limit does not indicate a weight range or scale referencing a starting weight. Ideally it's about 20 to 30 pounds less than the maximum weight limit. For more details, refer to the product description.
Beginner to Intermediate
Ideally beginner level skimboards should be sized between your belly button and chest high, up to your sternum. Chin high would be a little too big, and a little difficult to handle for a younger rider. All beginner to intermediate level boards in this category are built for sand skimming and to learn wave riding.
Intermediate
Skimboards listed in this category are geared towards getting you further out in the water with more speed & flotation. At the intermediate level the construction of the skimboard changes, you're getting a thicker foam core for more buoyancy. You're also getting a high performance base that will overall be faster and glide further then the base on a beginner level board. Intermediate level skimboards are perfect to allow you to reach the next level of skimboarding.
Advanced
The advanced level skimboards come in various shapes to gain more speed, stability, flotation, maneuverability, and or distance. These boards are constructed with carbon fiber stringers that will stiffen the flex for more performance without increasing the price to full carbon. Advanced level models are constructed with a high-performance base and a more durable texture top finish. Overall these skimboards are geared towards performance and will allow you to turn more quickly and better hold while wrapping waves.
Expert
The best of the best. Expert level skimboards are full carbon and or with kevlar giving you the most amount of strength and performance. Various shapes and rockers will increase stability, sensitivity, and upgrade your takeoff speed. These skimboards are built lighter and stronger than the advanced level skimboards. You're getting the top end lightweight materials all the way down to the core. Here you can find the same models as your favorite pro riders.
